The late winter/early spring time in Illinois can be pretty miserable. The wind, cold temperatures, and rainy weather make it very uncomfortable to be outside for more than a few minutes some days.
Champaign is a city full of culture, which can surprise a lot of people who have never been here. Although surrounded by cornfields and known primarily for its agricultural roots, Champaign is home to a variety of museums and cultural centers that enrich the community. From performing arts to history museums, there is something to draw anyone's interest.

Krannert Art Museum

Krannert is probably best known as a performing arts center, host to orchestras, talented musicians from across the world, and theatrical productions. The Krannert Art Museum (KAM), just a few minutes away from the Krannert Center for Performing arts, is a free art gallery with hundreds of pieces from local and internationally renowned artists. Plan to spend over an hour here as there are many galleries full of pieces that demand to be lingered over.

Spurlock Museum

This museum is home to many historical artifacts and rotating installations, so there is always something new to explore. Learn about different cultures and time periods by interacting with exhibits. They have a giant Chinese dragon, Ancient Greek statues, and so much more. Admission is free, but it is appreciated if visitors donate a few dollars to help support the museum!
